There is certainly no small town feel anywhere in Long Island most NYC. Try looking in the Hudson Valley area. |

Information technology'southward diverse. Lot's of families. Some people are competitive. Lots of people are always in a blitz driving too fast. Non plenty parking at the local train station. Lots of people in town know one another. Feels like part of the NYC rat race suburbanized. Sea Cliff and some other towns farther out have more of a small-scale town experience. |

It'southward the NYC metro-surface area- It'south all the same. Although to some extent, the further east one goes on the Isle, the better information technology gets. Of course, to become a folksy, Mid-west pocket-size town atmosphere...well- drive out to Orient Bespeak, and offset swimming! I adept thing about Port Washington: That'due south where the North Shore Animal League is! You lot could become there every solar day, and visit the dogs and cats- you lot won't find nicer "people" anywhere within 200 miles of LI/NYC. |

NYC is not very family unit-friendly (financially-speaking) and then many of these white neckband families motility to Port Washington, Manhasset and Dandy Neck for permanent housing. Those are the kinds of people y'all will encounter at that place. If annihilation, the LIRR line that serves the hamlet is one of the all-time performing commuter lines, and there is a park-playground in the master street. Other than that, trivial distinguishes Port Washington form other NYC suburbs. |

If yous're not worried nigh having an easy commute, so Sea Cliff may exist the closest you can find to a small-scale town atmosphere. But it's fairly distant from the main highways, and the railroad train service from there to NYC is pretty awful. Of class, what a small town atmosphere is in the midwest could be far unlike than on LI. Body of water Cliff is a very Cocked boondocks. |

Somewhere like Pleasantville if you can afford it. Westchester has much more room to move and the roads are not as conjested. I've found the people to be SOMEWHAT nicer upward there, though its still the NYC metro, not the Midwest by any stretch. |
